CIRAM research tax credit (CIR) approval until 2025

Tuesday 7 February 2023

CIRAM’s approval as an organization performing research eligible for the research tax credit (RTC) renewed through 2025.

Since 2020, CIRAM has had CIR approval, which allows our clients to declare research tax credits by using our invoices in their calculations.

CIRAM laboratories are pleased to announce the renewal of their approval as an organisation carrying out R&D work on behalf of third party companies. This is the approval for the research tax credit (CIR) for the period 2023-2025. As a guarantee of the quality of our analyses and an ideal way of relieving bills, discover all the advantages of the research tax credit (CIR).

CIR: definition and advantages of the research tax credit

The research tax credit (RTC) is a measure to support the research and development activities of companies, regardless of their sector or size. Companies that incur basic research and experimental development expenses can benefit from the CIR by deducting them from their tax bill under certain conditions. The rate of the CIR varies according to the amount of the investment.

What are the advantages of the CIR?

The research tax credit helps to improve and encourage innovation by relieving expenses related to your research and innovation projects. In general, the research tax credit corresponds to 30% of research expenditure up to €100 million and 5% above that amount. The RTC is deducted from the company tax (IS) or paid to the company if it does not make a profit.

Conditions for benefiting from the research tax credit :

To benefit from the CIR, the R&D work can be carried out by your company or by a private company approved by the Ministry of Research or Industry, as is CIRAM since 2020.

Companies must be located in France or in a Member State of the European Union (but also in Norway and Iceland).

The advantages of CIR approval for CIRAM

Thanks to its approval, CIRAM makes it easier for companies to invest in research. But the CIR also attests to the quality of our laboratories. Indeed, CIR approval ensures the R&D potential of CIRAM laboratories. Each organisation applying for the CIR must present a demanding research and development project. It is also required to provide information on the company’s capacity and on the qualifications of the engineers and researchers working on the projects.

The projects presented by CIRAM for the CIR

Approval is granted for three years. CIRAM has therefore successfully presented two R&D projects:

  • In 2020, for the first accreditation, our scientists presented research on Carbon-14 dating of wooden statues dated between the 18th and 20th centuries. Thanks to our expertise and know-how, we reduced the interval of calibrated dates from 250 years to only 35 years for the best results;
  • At the end of 2022, during our application for renewal of accreditation, CIRAM presented a project based on radiocarbon (or carbon-14) and stable isotope analysis of carbon and nitrogen in bio-based products. The coupling of radiocarbon and stable isotopes provided interesting double information. We were thus able to precisely quantify the biosourced and petrosourced portions of many types of materials, but we were also able to determine the origin of certain biomasses or their geographical origin.

CIR approval renewed for CIRAM laboratories

It is with great honour that we announce the renewal of our research tax credit (CIR) approval for the period 2023-2025, thus promoting your research.
